A Simpler Truth
silence in every room,
the grandfather clock standing still and tall
tick-tocking time too soon.
Reflections in the mirror at the end of the hall,
silent ghostly dawn.
and what if the ceiling grew exceedingly tall,
silent curtains drawn--
Wine glass mid fall never to spill,
mis-direction at every turn.
Both half empty and half filled,
don't let me speak out of turn.
but, the water is rising and the sky is falling,
no bridges left to burn.
When the world spins out of it's orbit (and there's)
no butter left to churn--
I will wish for a simpler place in time
I will wish for a simpler love
I will wish for a simpler pace and clime
I will wish for a simpler truth.
